Privacy policy.
You give The Close Round source material so the framework can score and rewrite it. This page is a plain-English account of what we keep, why, and how to make us delete it.
What The Close Round collects
- Account data. Email, name, and avatar from your Google sign-in. Nothing more.
- Source material. Documents you upload or link from Google Drive: pitch decks, financial models, cap tables, press, anything you point us at.
- Generated content. The ten-module narrative The Close Round produces from your sources — scores, issues, fixes, and the rewritten text.
- Reader analytics.Anonymous events on hosted dataroom pages: who viewed which section, how long. No IP address, no fingerprinting. For viewers who sign in or enter a work email, we may add name, title, and current company from a third-party business-data provider — shown only to the room owner, never sold, and deleted on request. For venture firms in a room owner's fundraising pipeline, we may likewise store business contact details (name, title, employer) of that firm's staff from the same provider — shown only to that room owner, never sold, and deleted on request.
- Operational logs. Standard server logs (request path, response code, latency) retained 30 days for debugging.
What The Close Round does NOT collect
- No credit card data. Stripe handles payment directly.
- No browsing history beyond pages on thecloseround.com.
- No third-party tracking pixels. No advertising IDs.
- No biometric data, no location data.
What we do with it
- Source material is fed to a large language model (xAI, OpenAI, or Anthropic — your choice in settings) to produce your dataroom. We do not train any model on your data.
- The hosted dataroom URL is what you share with investors. It shows the rewritten content only; analyst notes (scores, issues) never reach that page.
- Email is used for account, invites, and transactional product messages. No marketing list, no newsletter, no resale.
Sharing
The Close Round does not sell or rent your data. Subprocessors with access to source material or generated content: Vercel (hosting), Neon (database), Sentry (error tracking, redacted), the LLM provider you selected. Each is bound by their own DPA. No human at The Close Round reads your dataroom unless you explicitly invite us into a support thread.
Retention
- Active datarooms — kept as long as your account is active.
- Deleted datarooms — soft-deleted immediately (your share link dies the moment you hit delete), purged from the database after 30 days.
- Deleted account — purged within 30 days of request.
- Operational logs — 30 days.
Your rights
Export, delete, or amend your data at any time by emailing hello@thecloseround.com from the email on your account. EU and California residents have the full set of GDPR/CCPA rights. We respond within 7 business days.
Children
The Close Round is built for founders raising capital. Not directed at, and not used by, anyone under 16.
Changes
We update this page when the product changes. The "last updated" date at the top tracks revisions. Material changes get a one-line notice from your dashboard.
